Job Title: Production Lead – Cleanroom, 3rd Shift Job Description

The Production Lead provides hands-on leadership and direction to a small cleanroom team on 3rd shift, ensuring safe, efficient operation of production equipment and the consistent delivery of high-quality medical device products. This role combines team supervision with small component assembly, light soldering, inspection, and strict adherence to documentation, GMP, and quality standards in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the cleanroom production team on 3rd shift, ensuring smooth operations and consistent productivity throughout the shift.
• Proficiently operate and maintain small production equipment in a safe manner to produce high-quality products.
• Perform small component assembly under a microscope, including light soldering and other fine, hands-on tasks.
• Carry out component assembly, inspection, and related production duties according to established procedures.
• Meet all documentation requirements for the production process, accurately filing paperwork, documents, assemblies, and product records.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment in accordance with cleanroom and GMP standards.
• Become proficient in all spherz production processes, including forming, cutting, punching, assembly, packaging, and sealing.
• Complete all production processes in alignment with established documentation requirements and GMP standards.
• Inspect, evaluate, and accept product consistent with documented QA standards and procedures.
• Work independently and take ownership of keeping the 3rd shift running effectively without direct, constant supervision.
• Collaborate positively with team members, supporting a cohesive, hardworking, and high-performing cleanroom team.
• Operate and assist with robotics and other production machinery in the cleanroom as needed.
• Follow blueprint and work instruction requirements to ensure accurate component assembly and product quality.
• Adhere to cleanroom protocols and all applicable GMP regulations while handling medical device products.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated experience as a lead in a production, machine operator, assembler, or general manufacturing role, preferably in a GMP environment.
• Strong documentation skills, including accurately filing paperwork, process records, and product-related documents.
• Proven ability to work independently and remain productive without direct supervision.
• Experience supervising or guiding small production teams and ensuring consistent workflow.
• Excellent attention to detail when working with small components and fine assemblies.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort with hands-on component assembly and operating production equipment.
• Ability to perform small component assembly under a microscope and conduct light soldering work.
• Strong manual and hand dexterity for precision assembly and medical device manufacturing tasks.
• Comfort working in a cleanroom environment and willingness to learn and follow GMP regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow detailed work instructions.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Reliable job tenure and a track record of strong work ethic and consistent performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with medical device manufacturing and cleanroom operations.
• Familiarity with GMP standards and quality assurance procedures.
• Exposure to robotics and automated production equipment in a manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of IPC and J-STD-related practices for soldering and assembly (preferred).
• Experience with packaging machinery, deburring, and general production equipment.
• Ability to inspect products under magnification and evaluate against documented QA standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, hardworking personality that fits well within a cohesive team.
• Comfort working on 3rd shift and adapting to different training schedules on 1st shift.

Work Environment

This role is based in a very clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility with an expanded cleanroom and warehouse space. You will work in a cleanroom environment and must learn and adhere to GMP regulations at all times. The site manufactures medical devices used in hospitals and surgical centers, including products such as MRI-related components, surgical needles, and radiation-related devices. The position is on 3rd shift, typically Monday through Thursday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with initial training on 1st shift for one to two weeks on a flexible schedule (approximately 5:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., or 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.). You will work with small components, microscopes, soldering tools, robotics, and other production equipment in a cleanroom setting that emphasizes precision, safety, and quality.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of OWINGS MILLS, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
