Urgent Care APP – Locum Tenens

Location: Near Pittsburgh, PA
Rate: $130/hour
Setting: Urgent Care

Position Overview

A healthcare facility near Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for urgent care locum coverage. This is an excellent opportunity to provide care in a collaborative, well-supported environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat acute, non-life-threatening conditions such as colds/flu, rashes, sprains, minor burns, and lacerations.

• Perform splinting, incision and drainage (I&D), wound care, X-rays, and EKGs.

• Treat both pediatric and adult patients.

• Document patient care using Epic EMR.

• Recognize high-acuity cases and appropriately refer patients to nearby emergency departments.

Qualifications

• Board-Certified NP or PA.

• Active Pennsylvania license and DEA registration.

• Minimum 2 years of Urgent Care experience or 1 year of Emergency Medicine experience.

• ACLS and BLS certifications required.

• Strong skills in orthopedic procedures, wound care, and treating patients of all ages.

• Ability to make independent clinical decisions.

Schedule & Coverage

• Minimum availability: 3 shifts per month.

• Preferred availability: 12 shifts per month for full-time coverage.

• Average patient volume: 3–4 patients per hour.

• Providers may rotate between 4 locations, with a maximum distance of approximately 30 miles.

Practice Environment

• Supported by Medical Assistants and Radiologic Technologists.

• Typically 1–3 providers per site.

• Remote physician backup available when an MD is not onsite.
