Job Title: Payroll Specialist – Construction Industry

Location: Kennewick, WA
Job Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with construction industry experience to join our team.

Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for a multi-state construction workforce, including field employees, union labor, and salaried staff. This role requires a strong understanding of certified payroll, prevailing wages (Davis-Bacon), union agreements, and job costing.

Key Responsibilities

· Process weekly payroll for field and office employees

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations

· Manage prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting

· Track and reconcile union dues, benefits, and fringes

· Maintain accurate employee time records, including job costing and labor allocations

· Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and payments

· Coordinate with HR and project managers on employee status changes

· Audit payroll data for errors and resolve discrepancies

· Assist with year-end processing (W-2s, 1099s)

· Support internal and external audits as needed

Qualifications

· 3+ years of payroll experience , preferably in construction

· Experience with prevailing wage / certified payroll reporting (Davis-Bacon preferred)

· Knowledge of union payroll and multi-state payroll regulations

· Familiarity with job costing systems

· Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Foundation, or similar)

· Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data reconciliation)

· High attention to detail and accuracy

· Ability to handle confidential information with integrity

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with construction accounting systems

· Knowledge of fringe benefit calculations and reporting
