Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) at Norfolk General Hospital's Mother-Baby Unit, in Norfolk Virginia. Sign on Bonus up to $20,000 offered for qualified candidates. Shift: Full Time, Night shift (7a-7p) Department Overview Sentara Norfolk General Hospital's Postpartum Mother-Baby Unit is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse who has compassion and patience for providing special care to our new Moms and Infants. The Sentara Norfolk General Mother-Baby Unit is a 30-bed unit. Our Nurses assess, ensure that proper healing is occurring, and provide self-care education to our new Moms during the post‑partum stay. The unit encourages the new Mom to room with their new baby. The Mom‑Baby Nurse sees that the newborn is assessed, cleaned, fed, and swaddled, and educates the new Mom on proper infant care. Overview The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care—teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
