Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Job Description Northpointe Animal Hospital in Lynnwood, WA, is a well‑established site providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care. The hospital focuses on surgery, dentistry, and urgent care, with staff trained in Fear Free care. The facility is pursuing AAHA accreditation and features state‑of‑the‑art equipment, including a dental X‑ray machine, laser therapy, ultrasound, and a dental delivery machine. Recent renovations have added new surgery suites, an X‑ray room, an exclusive dental suite, a new doctor’s office, five exam rooms, and a spacious treatment area. Externship students (3rd‑ and 4th‑year veterinary students) work closely with supervising veterinarians to gather patient histories, perform physical examinations, create treatment plans, conduct diagnostics, provide dentistry services, observe/assist or perform surgical procedures, and manage patients medically. Students also practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Most externships last between two and eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Stipend Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for the Northpointe Animal Hospital externship is $1,500. Qualifications Enrolled in veterinary school, 3rd or 4th year. Active enrollment in the clinical portion of veterinary education. Commitment to learning and providing quality patient care.
