Senior Engineer, Embedded Software Testing and Qualification

Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) – Embedded Systems We are a global energy technology company serving customers in more than 120 countries, focused on innovation and operational excellence. We seek an experienced SDET to own and advance our automated testing strategy for embedded systems. Responsibilities Architect test frameworks for hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) environments and system integration. Develop robust, production‑grade automation scripts and test suites using Python or modern C#. Lead hardware/software debugging, isolating and diagnosing complex low‑level hardware defects, race conditions, and timing anomalies with lab equipment. Optimize CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab CI) to orchestrate daily regression testing on hardware. Advocate for testability in software code reviews and architectural discussions, supporting test hooks and design‑for‑test (DFT) principles. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers through code reviews and mentorship. Qualifications 5–8 years of dedicated experience as an SDET or Test Automation Engineer in embedded systems, IoT, automotive (e.g., AUTOSAR), medical device, or aerospace industries. Strong proficiency in Python (advanced framework development using pytest or unittest) and C#. Deep understanding of Real‑Time Operating Systems and Embedded Linux environments with cross‑development toolchains. Experience testing visual‑processing technologies, especially GPU & NPU platforms with PyTorch, TensorRT, SYCL, OpenCL or OpenVino. Hands‑on experience testing and troubleshooting communication buses including BLE and Wi‑Fi. Proficiency in automating and interacting with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and digital multimeters. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline. Preferred Qualifications Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) design or custom hardware test fixture development. Knowledge of safety‑critical development standards such as ISO26262, IEC62304, DO‑178C. Experience with containerization tools like Docker for standardized test environments. Experience leveraging AI/ML tools to accelerate test development, including automated test generation.
