CNC Swiss Machinist

Warminster, PA | $30 to $40 per hour | Full-time

A precision machining manufacturer in Warminster, Pennsylvania is hiring a Swiss CNC Setup Machinist. The role sets up close-tolerance jobs on Citizen, Star, and Tsugami Swiss-type lathes, approves first pieces, and hands machines off to operators. You will also train operators and work with the programmer to keep setups accurate and cycle times on target, including jobs that run unattended.

Schedule

Full-time, on-site in Warminster, PA.

Compensation

$30 to $40 per hour, based on Swiss setup experience.

What You'll Do

You will set up scheduled jobs on Citizen, Star, and Tsugami Swiss-type CNC lathes, including guide bushing setup, bar feeder loading, and sub-spindle and live tool operations. You will work with the programmer to confirm that setup sheets and job instructions are accurate and complete. Once a job is proven out, you will approve the first piece and hand the machine off to an operator.

You will improve cycle time, tool life, and part quality by making offset, speed and feed, and rapid edits at the machine. You will inspect small-diameter turned parts to tight tolerances using micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, optical comparators, and microscopes. You will document inspection results and follow the procedures for handling nonconforming parts.

Between setups, you will run machines as needed and monitor bar stock, coolant, and tool wear during unattended and lights-out runs. You will also train and oversee multiple operators, flag problems and improvement opportunities to management, and keep your work area safe, clean, and organized.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of Swiss-type CNC lathe setup experience
• Working knowledge of guide bushings, bar feeders, sub-spindles, and live tooling
• Ability to read and interpret tight-tolerance turned part drawings
• Experience making offsets and editing speeds and feeds at the machine
• Experience inspecting small parts with micrometers, pin gauges, optical comparators, and microscopes
• Solid shop math skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for more than 5 hours per shift, with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

• Setup experience on Citizen, Star, or Tsugami Swiss machines
• Experience with Fanuc-based Swiss controls
• Experience supporting lights-out or unattended machining
• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Experience training or leading machine operators
• Experience in a medical, aerospace, or ISO 9001 quality environment
