Code Fitter WelderThe Code Fitter Welder fits and welds code-qualified 100% X-ray coils, ensuring all work meets strict engineering, quality, and safety standards. This role combines advanced welding skills with precise blueprint interpretation, mathematical calculations, and meticulous documentation to deliver high-quality fabricated components.ResponsibilitiesFit and weld code 100% X-ray coils in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable welding codes.Clamp, hold, tack-weld, grind, and bolt components into position to prepare assemblies for final welding.Examine workpieces for defects and use straightedges, templates, and measuring tools to ensure conformance with specifications.Measure dimensions of completed products and workpieces to verify they meet required tolerances and quality standards.Develop templates and models for welding projects using mathematical calculations based on blueprint information.Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layouts, assemblies, and welding operations before fabrication begins.Lay out and fit nozzles, supports, and couplings into coils according to blueprints and project requirements.Remove rough spots and imperfections from workpieces using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers to achieve smooth finishes.Maintain and complete all required records, production documentation, and job-related paperwork accurately and on time.Use levels, tapes, protractors, and various tools to ensure precise alignment and accurate measurements during fabrication.Work independently on assigned tasks while maintaining strong organization and attention to detail.Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate work, clarify requirements, and resolve issues as needed.Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in a metal fabrication environment.Essential SkillsAbility to pass applicable welding tests, including Code Section 8 welding tests such as 2" schedule 160 carbon, 6G pipe tests using GTAW (TIG) and FCAW (Fluxcore).Proficiency in GTAW (TIG) welding and ability to weld out heavy-wall pipe and coil assemblies.Proficiency in FCAW (Fluxcore) welding for structural and coil-related applications.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications accurately.Strong mathematical skills to support layout, measurements, and template development.Ability to use and read levels, tape measures, protractors, and various hand and power tools.High school diploma or equivalent (GED).Approximately 5 years of relevant welding and fitting experience and/or training.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and documentation requirements.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document work and collaborate with others.Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while maintaining high quality standards.Capability to examine workpieces for defects and verify conformance to specifications using appropriate measuring tools.Experience using grinders, hand files, and scrapers to prepare and finish workpieces.Additional Skills & QualificationsTwo-year technical degree or vocational certificate in welding is preferred.Experience developing templates and models for welding projects based on blueprint data.Experience in planning layouts, assemblies, and welding operations from engineering drawings.Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate production records and documentation.Comfort working with code-qualified welded products that require 100% X-ray inspection.Experience working in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.Why Work Here?Employees benefit from a consistent daytime schedule with extended weekends, allowing for predictable work-life balance while still offering additional hours when desired or required. The role is based in a non-temperature-controlled metal fabrication shop that includes loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles typical of manufacturing environments. Employees use welding and grinding equipment, measuring tools, and various hand and power tools as part of daily operations. Personal protective equipment is mandatory and includes noise and hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, safety harnesses, full-face grinding shields, welding hoods, and OSHA-compliant safety boots or shoes while in the manufacturing facility.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of SAND SPRINGS, OK.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
