Overview

The Job in a Nutshell:

Under the supervision of the Lead Refrigeration Technician this entry level position works on new store construction as well as performs various preventative maintenance programs on refrigeration units at various Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage (NGVC) store locations located in Colorado and surrounding states.  This position also performs maintenance on refrigerators as well as emergency repairs when needed. This role will require 90-100% travel.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

1. Assists with set up and programming of new refrigeration rack systems during construction of new locations
2. Provides general repair work on refrigeration systems found at various store locations
   1. Provides service by repairing, overhauling and installing equipment in a safe, efficient and timely manner that exceeds the store management’s expectations
3. Provides general quarterly preventative maintenance activities by diagnosing equipment malfunction and any operating deficiency of the mechanical equipment
4. Communicates diagnosis and condition of refrigeration equipment to the Store Manager and to the VP of Construction
5. Provides department support by processing job tickets and work orders for the necessary departments in a timely manner
6. Provides World Class customer service to the store managers at all store locations
7. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight work
8. Observes and adheres to standard construction safety practices
9. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned by management
10. Travel is required with overnight stays

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

1. High school diploma or GED required
2. Minimum 2 years related experience working in a multi-unit environment required
3. Ability to provide and maintain personal tools as required by the job
4. Registered and insured personal vehicle required for daily travel
5. Basic computer skills required
6. Knowledge of CO2 controls and start up required
7. Proficient mechanical and troubleshooting skills; ability to read wiring diagrams and parts schematics
8. Knowledge of rack systems
9. Can work comfortably at elevated heights (man lifts, extension ladders etc.)
10. Positive attitude and commitment to provide excellent customer service to support our stores.
11. Excellent organizational and time management skills
12. Ability to prioritize and plan the workday but also able to respond appropriately to changing work priorities
13. Possess current driver’s license, a clean driving record and proof of insurance are required
14. Frequent travel with overnight stays required

Physical Requirements:

• Must have the ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must have the ability to occasionally push or pull up to 30 lbs.
• Must be able to constantly use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
• Must be able to constantly sit, use fine motor manipulations, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
• Must be able to frequently grip, bend, twist, and turn.
• Must be able to occasionally walk, stand, squat, kneel, and reach above chest as needed.

Environmental Requirements:

• Must be able to work occasionally with cold, heat, sharp tools and equipment, noise, contact stress, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
