The Role We’re looking for a Founding Recruiter who will lead all recruiting functions. The recruiter will work directly with the CEO to build a high‑performing, mission‑driven team across Operations, Styling, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Client Experience, and more. Location & Hours Full‑time, onsite in our SF office. Qualifications Self‑starter able to source, coordinate, and close hiring needs. High judgment, bias for action, and ownership mentality. Expertise in crafting outbound messages that get responses and ability to search for talent in non‑obvious places. Proficiency with tools such as Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, and AI automation. 7+ years recruiting experience, with at least 3 years in startup or high‑growth environment. Responsibilities Full‑cycle recruiting – Own end‑to‑end hiring for all roles. Talent strategy – Partner with founders and hiring managers to set hiring goals, scope new roles, and develop talent roadmaps. Sourcing – Build and run outbound sourcing strategies. Mandate talent infrastructure – Manage hiring systems (Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, hiring data). Growth strategy – Advise founders on team composition and scaling. Talent operations – Own candidate coordination, recruiting tools, and continuous improvement of hiring processes. Brand building – Represent Short Story's values with authenticity, empathy, and clarity in every candidate interaction. What We Value Obsessed with detail. Excellent writing skills.
