HEAVY EQUIPMENT FIELD MECHANIC

Total Compensation Salary commensurate with experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Diagnose and identify malfunctions using computerized tools and equipment. Accurately troubleshoot and repair equipment. Read, understand and apply mechanical, electrical, fuel and hydraulic schematics to repair work. Diagnose Tier 3 and Tier 4 interim and Tier 4 final emissions systems. Perform scheduled maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating parts. Inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn parts. Remove, repair, and install major heavy equipment components in varying configurations. Overhaul and test major components, such as engines, fuel elements, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Travel to work sites to repair heavy construction machinery. Service truck trailers and maintain equipment inspection and service logs on a daily basis. Maintain tools in good working order as per OSHA regulations. Participate in ongoing safety trainings and initiatives, and maintain commitment to the highest safety standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Three to five years maintenance experience servicing and repairing trucks and heavy construction equipment, including scrapers, skid steers, bulldozers, excavators, and backhoes. Significant experience with and ability to work on several makes and models of equipment, especially including Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, and Kenworth. Ability to prioritize effectively, work independently, manage time, multitask, and handle stress. Highly effective communicator with the ability to interact positively and professionally with vendors, customers, coworkers, and leadership. CDL Class B endorsement or higher, or the ability to obtain one upon hire. Must possess own basic hand tools. Good driving record to be able to drive Company vehicles. Willingness and ability to adapt to scheduling needs, including primarily day shift hours (usually between 6 AM and 4 PM), overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as required to accommodate company and project needs. Ability to pass pre- and post-employment drug screening and work history verification. Consistent access to reliable personal email account. Training opportunities exist in that area that are not possible in the field role. Education and/or Experience Preferred: High School diploma or GED. Welding knowledge and troubleshooting experience. Language Skills This position requires the ability to communicate in English with co-workers and the general public. Math Skills This job requires the ability to do and understand basic math equations. Physical Demands Primary functions require the physical ability and mobility to stand, sit, or lie down for extended periods of time and repeatedly work overhead, kneel, crawl, push, pull, bend, twist, and climb equipment as required by task. Manual dexterity and visual acuity to identify and manipulate small components. Keen sense of smell and hearing to identify unseen problems with equipment or fluids. Ability to frequently lift 25 to 50 pounds. Primarily indoor work in a maintenance shop. Regularly exposed to hazards such as noise, fumes, moving equipment, liquids and lubricants.
