  RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate as a team member in the formulation of program and/or agency planning, and in the coordination and implementation of PSS services.
• Peer Support Specialists interventions may include: sharing lived experiences of recovery, sharing and supporting the use of recovery tools and modeling successful recovery behaviors; helping individuals to connect with other peers and with their community at large; and assisting individuals with identifying strengths and personal resources to aid in their recovery. 
• Lead and mentor other PreventEd Peer Support Specialists.
• Maintain an active caseload of 3-8 clients, or other goal set mutually with supervisor. Also provide general support and assistance to PSS I’s caseload as needed. 
• Coordinate referrals to the PSS Services. Make the initial connection with the client, gather information, and provide a warm handoff to a PSS Services team member or appropriate agency.
• Establish community relationships for referrals to the program and resources for clients.
• Provide training for community members on peer services and resources.
• Act as the PreventEd liaison for Peer Services across partner agencies and systems. 
• Document all aspects of the job in compliance with agency, contractual, and funding requirements. 
• Perform all other related work as assigned.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• High degree of maturity and emotional stability. Stable in their recovery.  Former participant in a substance use treatment program.
• Ability to maintain effective and cooperative relationships with volunteers, clients, staff members, and other community social service agen­cies.
• Strong decision-making and leadership skills.
• Cooperative spirit to work as a member of a team.
• Ability to organize well, work with details, and exhibit follow through. 
• Flexibility with regard to evening and weekend work schedules.
• Interest in personal and professional growth and the desire to seek supervision and knowledge to assist in this process. 

  SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or Bachelor's in education, psychology, social work, community organization, counseling, human services, or related field.
• At least one year in recovery. 
• Has Obtained Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) Certification through the Missouri Credentialing Board and worked as a CPS for at least one year. 
• Previous training or experience in public speaking, social services, minority relations, youth programs, planning/coordination, community organization, or teaching preferred.
• Participate in Coalition work such as NPRA-Missouri.
