Medical Laboratory Scientist - Blood Bank

Position Summary Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Regional Blood Bank at Providence Health Plaza in Portland, OR. Per Diem/Variable Shift. The Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist Journeyman is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of high‑complexity laboratory test results with minimal supervision. MT/CLS JRN personnel perform pre‑analytical, analytical, and post‑analytical duties including specimen evaluation, data analysis, instrument maintenance, and problem resolution. They work with acute‑care and outpatient caregivers, and other Laboratory Services staff. Responsibilities Accurate and timely reporting of high‑complexity laboratory test results. • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from a NAACLS accredited MLS program, or
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
• Upon hire: National Medical Laboratory Scientist – American Society for Clinical Pathology, or
• Upon hire: National Clinical Laboratory Scientist – American Society for Clinical Pathology, or
• Upon hire: National Medical Technologist – American Society for Clinical Pathology, or
• Upon hire: National Medical Technologist – American Medical Technologists, or
• Upon hire: National Medical Laboratory Scientist – American Medical Technologist.
• 1 year experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in a department in the laboratory or exceeds principal duties and functions in the MLS I job description.

Preferred Qualifications 3 years clinical laboratory experience in a moderate and high complexity laboratory.
