Product Development Specialist

Note: Interviews for this position will begin in early 2027, with an anticipated start date in May 2027 Product Development Specialist Tax Product Development Specialists (PDS) turn complex tax rules into clear product requirements that help TaxHawk customers file accurate returns. The role blends tax research, product design, quality assurance, project management, and close partnership with software developers. It is not primarily a programming role, but comfort with logic and technical systems is valuable. There is no single degree path for the role; backgrounds in accounting, finance, information systems, statistics, math, and economics (among others) can all be helpful. Successful PDS are curious, detail-oriented self-starters who enjoy solving new problems. Because our work follows the annual tax cycle, responsibilities shift throughout the year, from researching law and planning changes to testing, launch readiness, and ongoing product improvement. Responsibilities Interpret federal and state tax laws, forms, instructions, and agency guidance Translate tax rules into clear outlines and pseudocode for screens, calculations, forms, and e-file requirements Identify annual changes and define requirements that software developers can implement Design and test customer flows and calculations to support accurate tax returns and a clear user experience Review other PDS team members' work and collaborate to resolve issues and improve consistency Coordinate with state revenue departments to secure annual approval for filing Plan and manage assigned projects by defining scope, milestones, dependencies, and risks; communicate status and follow through with cross-functional partners Use AI responsibly to research, compare, draft, and validate work; check outputs for accuracy and help develop or integrate AI-assisted product workflows Identify product enhancements and help develop new features, including support for complex tax situations and forms Support pre-season readiness and in-season quality by testing the application, printed returns, and e-filing Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field Strong analytical, written communication, and organizational skills, with careful attention to detail Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, communicate risks, and collaborate across teams Proficiency with Excel, Word, and similar office tools; experience with logic, programming, data analysis, project management, or AI tools is helpful but not required Details Competitive Pay – Starting salary depends on experience Full-Time Generous Benefits, Health Insurance, and PTO 4% 401K Match and 401K Profit Sharing Contributions Work-life balance is supported and encouraged #J-18808-Ljbffr Socket.dev
