Description :
The Occupational Health Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and oversight of a comprehensive occupational health program. This program helps to ensure the safety and well-being of university employees. This role involves program development, overseeing health surveillance, and ensuring compliance with applicable university policies, laws and regulations, and Occupational Health practice guidelines. This is a highly collaborative role, interfacing with many university entities. The program generally includes, but is not limited to animal care and veterinary workers, laboratory researchers and principal investigators, healthcare workers and facilities workers.
1. Designs and implements occupational health programs that promote healthy workers and a safe work environment.
2. Develops and enforces occupational health and safety policies in accordance with relevant health and safety standards.
3. Conducts regular risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards and exposures.
4. Oversees health surveillance and screening programs. Manages contracts with external healthcare providers for occupational health services.
5. Advises university management on the impact of work practices, existing protective measures, and the overall workplace environment on employee health.
6. Provides education and training for Occupational Health programs.
7. Manages the budget for occupational health and evaluates the effectiveness of health programs.
8. Partners with management, environmental health and safety personnel to ensure consistent application of occupational health and safety policies.
9. Performs other job-related duties as required.

- Great communication and work cooperatively with personnel in diverse positions, including professors, researchers, lab technicians, engineering and operations/facilities maintenance personnel, and administrators to apply regulatory requirements or guidelines to the unique environment of the research or clinical laboratory.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and be able to use computer database.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional disciplines. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related, 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Requires professional licensing, certification or registration directly related to the job, as specified on the job posting details. Registered Nurse (RN) License. Preferred: Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S) or advanced credentials (e.g. Masters in Public Health).
