A Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Dothan, Alabama, one of only two such facilities in the state, is seeking a Nocturnist to join its inpatient medicine service. This is a nocturnist-only position with no on-call obligations, embedded within a hospital that offers 24/7 pulmonary, critical care, and subspecialty support. The position is well-suited to physicians who prefer a structured overnight schedule with strong specialist backup and no procedural requirements.

Schedule: Minimum of 12 overnight shifts per month with flexible scheduling. No on-call duties.

What You'll Do:

As a Nocturnist, you will provide overnight inpatient care for unassigned patients presenting through the Emergency Department who require admission. You will manage admissions independently and collaborate with on-staff intensivists for critical care patients. No procedures are required in this role, and intensivist and subspecialty support is available around the clock.

Your patient population will also include those housed in the Clinical Decision Unit, where you will manage observation-level cases and support inpatient consultations across the medical service. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams in a high-acuity environment, with consistent access to specialist resources that allows you to focus on direct patient management and care coordination.

Required Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Active Alabama medical license or eligibility to obtain one prior to start
• ACLS certification
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage high-acuity inpatient cases overnight with specialist backup

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior hospitalist or nocturnist experience
• Familiarity with Clinical Decision Unit workflows
• Experience working in a trauma center or high-volume inpatient setting
• Established Alabama medical license at time of application
