In this role, you'll be responsible for hot and cold menu items from prep to plate, making sure the food case is always stocked and every order is made with care.If you enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, take pride in quality food, and love being part of a team, we'd love to have you on board.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive onePrepare cooking surfaces and all menu items including vegetables, sides, meats, breakfast foods, and heat-and-eat varietiesPlace food in hot cases, monitor amounts, and refill as necessary throughout your shiftStay knowledgeable of all menu items and take guest orders as neededPrepare items for upcoming shifts to keep the department running smoothlyMaintain a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Market Grille operationPractice proper sanitation procedures and keep your work area clean and organized at all timesOrder product and supplies as needed or notify department managers of any needsWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environmentAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assignedMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelinesReport to work when scheduled and on timeYour SkillsTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:Solve practical problems and interpret instructions across a variety of situationsPerform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accuratelyUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writingWork effectively as part of a team to deliver quality food and a great customer experienceReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Manager; Market Grille Department Manager; Assistant Market Grille Department ManagerEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent experience requiredSix months or less of similar or related work experience; we will provide all the training you need to succeedPhysical RequirementsFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areasWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparationWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipmentWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standardsPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-paced kitchen environment where you'll be on your feet throughout your shift. You'll regularly work in both warm and cool conditions with exposure to dampness, equipment noise and vibrations, possible equipment movement hazards, and daily exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents.
