RN Med-Surg Telemetry

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will provide skilled nursing care primarily on the 1S Observation unit, with responsibilities extending to Med-Surg units including Respiratory, Stroke, Cardiac, and potentially the Emergency Department. The role demands proficiency in telemetry and Med-Surg nursing, strong clinical judgment, and effective collaboration within interdisciplinary teams. The nurse will deliver patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and maintain compliance with electronic medical records using Epic. This position requires at least 3 years of recent telemetry/Med-Surg experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications. Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care on the 1S Observation unit and float to other Med-Surg units and the ED as needed.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms accurately.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Document all nursing activities and patient information accurately in the Epic EMR system.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Participate in unit and hospital initiatives to improve patient outcomes.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Ohio.
• Minimum of 3 years recent experience in telemetry and Med-Surg nursing.
• Proficiency in Epic electronic medical record system (no refresher training allowed).
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Ability to accurately read telemetry and BCRA monitoring; competency tested on day one.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in Emergency Department settings.
• Additional certifications related to specialty areas such as stroke or cardiac care.

Special Considerations:

• Position requires day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• 36 hours per week with every other weekend required.
• Call duty is very rare but may be required occasionally.
• Immediate termination if Epic proficiency or telemetry competency is not demonstrated on day one.

• Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• 36 hours per week.
• Every other weekend required.
