Patient Services Specialist

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute

Job Summary Will handle most clerical duties associated with a medical clinic. The Patient Services Specialist (PSS) work is divided into stations, each having a distinct set of job duties. In addition to the usual duties of the station they are in, every PSS employee is expected to assist coworkers in performing all PSS duties at all times. All PSS hires are expected to learn and perform the duties of all front‑office stations. The role requires strong copywriting and editing skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to meet time‑sensitive priorities. Employees must be highly organized and flexible according to changing priorities. Additional duties and projects may be assigned as needed. Position Qualifications High School Diploma / GED required. Previous Experience Experience in the healthcare field is highly preferred. Attention to detail with the ability to multitask and excellent interpersonal skills. Strong communication skills with a wide variety of personalities. Core Capabilities Analysis & Critical Thinking: Critical thinking skills, solid problem solving, analysis, decision‑making, planning, time management, and organizational skills. Must be detail oriented and exercise independent judgment. Interpersonal Effectiveness: Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness. Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters. Communication Skills: Good command of the English language. Second language is an asset but not required. Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation) and active listening with balanced feedback. Customer Service & Organizational Awareness: Strong customer focus. Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness, and operational excellence through best practices, strong business and political acumen, collaboration, and partnerships, as well as positive employee, physician and community relations. Self‑Management: Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, stress, and professional development. Self‑motivated and self‑starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision. Work effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites. Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Certifications/Licenses: Valid state driver’s license for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with company driver safety operations and motor vehicle records check policy is required. Travel 26–50% of time will be spent traveling to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Remote No. Work Hours Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Screenings All offers of employment are contingent upon clear results of background, drug, and nicotine screenings.
