Controller

Accentuate Staffing is seeking an experienced and hands on Controller for our well-established client in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area.  The Controller will lead accounting, financial reporting, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and financial planning for the organization. This role is a key member of the management team and partners closely with sales, operations, warehouse, fleet, and suppliers to drive financial performance and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting functions, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, cash management, and financial reporting.
• Lead monthly and year-end close and prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyze financial performance, budgets, cash flow, and KPIs and present results to senior leadership and ownership.
• Manage inventory accounting, supplier programs, rebates, bill-backs, depletion allowances, and marketing funds.
• Oversee excise tax, sales tax, payroll tax, property tax, audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Supervise payroll and support employee benefits, renewals, compensation administration, and HR-related processes.
• Lead credit and collections, customer aging, credit limits, and risk management.
• Partner with operations to analyze warehouse, fleet, delivery, fuel, and equipment costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Lead and develop accounting, payroll, and administrative staff.
• Maintain and improve ERP, accounting, payroll, reporting, and business intelligence systems.
• Develop financial dashboards and KPIs and drive process improvements and internal controls.
• Hands-on, business-minded leader who can balance strategic financial oversight with day-to-day operations

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in consumer products, wholesale distribution, foodservice or logistics strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, inventory/cost accounting, and internal controls.
• Understanding of excise tax and regulatory compliance preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with ERP, payroll, and business intelligence systems.
