Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year of Medical-Surgical Neuro experience required License: Active state nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Must be able to work every other weekend and rotating holidays - Use of Rapid Response Teams required Description: Med Surg Neuro RN needed for night shift. The position involves a 4x12 shift rotation. Every other weekend rotation is required, as well as rotating holidays. On-call requirements will be determined by the unit's needs. Travelers may float to other like units, including surgical care, medical units, and inpatient rehab units. Team nursing model is utilized, encompassing the RN, LPN, and NA model within the general Neuroscience Spine unit. Primary nurse model consists of RN and NA in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit. The patient ratio is 6-7 patients per RN, with LPNs assigned to 5 patients and NAs assigned to 4 patients. In the Neuro Progressive Care Unit, the RN to patient ratio is 1:3. The unit provides care for various neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Notable patient diagnoses include traumatic brain injury, stroke care, spinal care, and post-operative care for neurosurgical procedures. Strong interdisciplinary support is available, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services. This is a fast-paced environment that emphasizes a strong team philosophy. Ceiling lifts, continuous monitoring technologies, and a comprehensive stroke center certification enhance patient care capabilities.
