Job Summary

Working closely with the New Club Success Team and new club leadership, the New Club Success Team Receiving/Inventory Control Leader is responsible for the supervision of the receiving department. Ensures the receipt and disposition of merchandise and inventory in the club, including processing paperwork, verifying merchandise, comparing receipts against purchase orders, and checking for damaged products/concealed shortages. Makes sure policies and procedures are followed within the department. The New Club Success Team Receiving/Inventory Control Leader l is part of a high performing team focused on providing coaching and mentorship to new club leadership leading up to and through new club openings to ensure club and team member readiness to deliver a best in-class member experience.

Primary Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Validates the operations of the receiving department, including matching received inventory against purchase orders and reviewing discrepancies in received inventory.
• Teaches and coaches new club leadership and team members on processing inbound and outbound shipments. Validates all product pricing and signage is displayed.
• Ensures radio frequency (RF) guns are received, setup, and used when receiving merchandise.
• Makes sure all receiving paperwork is complete and accurate including, but not limited to direct to club, negative inventory, and STO club to club transfers.
• Acts as a mentor to new club leaders and team members in the receiving/inventory control department. Reports any issues to management.
• Communicate with Logistics
• Oversees and coordinates the delivery schedules
• Teaches and coaches new club leaders on the completion of the department self-audit with detail and accuracy
• Teaches and coaches new club leadership and team members on completing receiving documents and other daily reports.
• Partner with new club leadership & AP partners to ensure that processes are in place to secure the receiving doors when not in use and properly checks in visitors and vendors. Process is in place to inspects bags, backpacks, briefcases, and lunch boxes / bags that are leaving the building. Ensure that the receiving / employee entrance is alarmed when not in use, that the receiving and overhead doors are properly sealed, and that the alarms are operational.
• Assigns truck door locations and ensures drivers are outside of their trucks while it is being unloaded. Ensures the trucks are secured while on the dock and that full trailer loads are empty when departing the dock.
• Ensures all safety equipment (e.g. dock restraint system) is in proper working condition.
• Teaches and coaches new club leadership and team members on verifying the seal integrity of all trucks, including distribution center loads and frozen / dairy shipments.
• Partner with new club leadership to ensure accurate processing of damaged or defective merchandise by following appropriate salvage, donation, vendor return, reverse logistic, hazardous waste and destroy procedures.
• Verifies and teaches new club leadership & team members on return authorizations from vendors, processes vendor chargebacks, and packages and ships merchandise returns based on vendor return policies.
• Assesses breakage logs associated with leaking, spoiled and broken merchandise and processes merchandise out of inventory.
• Validates that merchandise protection on designated items is executed.
• Establishes process to validate that all merchandise leaving the back doors has appropriate paperwork and approvals.
• Teaches and coaches new club leadership and team members on the operation of the compactor and cardboard baler and secures the equipment when not in use.
• Serve as the designated forklift trainer for the club.
• Operates a forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Inspects forklifts prior to use and follows established safety standards.
• Ensure the timely and accurate setup of Receiving Office & Receiving Dock equipment, systems, and supplies.
• Validates all Receiving supplies are accounted for and oversees their utilization and storage
• Coordinates Receiving team member schedules for new club and support teams from sister clubs based on delivery schedules
• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining proper receiving procedures including validating Receiving reports and SAP
• Partner with key internal teams including new club cross-functional team to ensure key initiatives and new club processes are followed and executed.
• Identify areas of additional training outside core learning and development program and deliver coaching and training to ensure team member readiness.
• Maintains all club policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of this job.

Qualifications

• Forklift operator required.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Prior experience working in a big box receiving environment preferred.
• Computer skills preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

Job Conditions

• Majority of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping.
• Continuously requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
• Usually in a comfortable environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
• Position will require 75% overnight travel throughout the chain’s footprint based on new club opening schedules.

This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position.
