Location: New York, NY preferred; Connecticut and Florida also considered Reports to: Leadership Compensation: Base $185k-$205k (DOE) + annual bonus Who We Are Waste Solution Services (WSS) helps multifamily and commercial portfolios lower and stabilize waste spend. We do not haul trash; we sit between clients and haulers to audit invoices, optimize contracts, right-size service, centralize billing, and manage service issues. Our work is built around cost predictability, operational clarity, and strong execution. The Role (What You’ll Do) We are hiring a VP of Finance to own the financial health of WSS and oversee all finance operations. This leader will manage AP, AR, Collections, FP&A, and bookkeeping while providing strategic guidance on budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and price increases. The role is approximately 80% management and oversight, with 20% direct involvement in budgeting and financial understanding to support the company’s growth and decision-making. Oversee all WSS finance functions, including AP, AR, Collections, FP&A, and bookkeeping. Build and manage a team for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accrual-based accounting. Lead the company’s budgeting process and support pricing and price increase decisions. Build clear financial visibility for leadership and ensure accuracy across reporting. Maintain accountability for finance processes, controls, and deadlines. Partner with leadership to understand business performance and guide financial strategy. Translate financial data into actionable insights that support company planning. Ensure finance operations are organized, reliable, and scalable as WSS grows. Provide trusted guidance on financial decisions that affect operations and revenue. Help align finance with the company’s long-term vision and operating priorities. What Success Looks Like (Outcomes) Finance operations run accurately, consistently, and on time. Leadership has clear visibility into performance, forecasts, and budgeting. Price increases and budgeting decisions are supported by solid financial analysis. AP, AR, Collections, bookkeeping, and FP&A are managed with strong accountability. The finance function is trusted, proactive, and aligned with the company’s direction. Who You Are A strong financial leader with experience managing full finance operations. Comfortable balancing management oversight with hands‑on financial work. Highly trustworthy, organized, and detail‑oriented. Able to understand the broader business and connect finance to company vision. A clear communicator who can work well with leadership and cross‑functional teams. Confident working in a fast‑moving environment that requires accountability and judgment. Preferred Experience (Nice to Have) Experience leading finance operations in a growing business. Strong background in AP, AR, FP&A, bookkeeping, budgeting, and forecasting. Accrual accounting experience required. Experience supporting pricing strategy and price increases. Waste management, multifamily, commercial services, or related industry experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability to build trust with leadership and own sensitive financial responsibilities. Requirements Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting 10+ years of relevant experience 5+ years senior management experience Based in New York preferred; Connecticut and Florida will also be considered.
