Position Overview Photographer (403(g)) located in Chicago, IL with Paramount. The role involves visual storytelling for CBS News Chicago newscasts, streaming, and local programming. Primary Accountabilities Cover news events and stories as a photojournalist for CBS Chicago newscasts and streaming. Operate broadcast cameras, drones, digital microwave and satellite ENG vehicles, non‑linear editing systems, and IP‑based broadcast applications. Edit news stories under urgent deadlines while maintaining editorial integrity. Safely operate company vehicles, including microwave‑equipped vans and trucks, on long drives in all weather conditions. Bring creativity and inspiration to broadcast storytelling and collaborate on editorial processes with the team. Ensure daily show production deadlines are met and protect news equipment from theft and damage. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Physical ability to lift and manipulate at least 75 lbs of gear and set up and break down broadcast production equipment, typically alone, under tight deadlines. Safe driving of company vehicles in all conditions, including long drives to assignments. Flexibility with a work schedule that may include weekends, late nights, and overnights. Ability to extend scheduled shifts on short notice due to unpredictable news assignments. Reliable communication of editorial content and logistical details. Must join the IBEW 1220 union if not already a member. Preferred Education, Experience, & Certification Five years of experience as a photographer and editor, preferably in a top 25 market. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field. Familiarity with the Chicago area. Strong non‑linear editing background, including Edius. Valid Illinois driver’s license. Jib & Technical Operations Center experience. Drone ENG experience with FAA Part 107 certification. Strong computer and troubleshooting skills. Salary & Benefits Hiring salary range: $109,589.00 – $122,476.00 (applies to specified geographies).
