Position Overview

The Director of Human Resources will manage all personnel operations, cultural initiatives, and labor compliance. As a one-person department, you will balance high-level strategic alignment with day-to-day administrative execution. This role reports directly to the President/CEO and supports a passionate, mission-driven team.

Core Responsibilities

• Solo Administration: Execute all routine HR tasks from processing paperwork to maintaining digital employee files.
• Compliance: Ensure absolute alignment with federal, state, and non-profit specific labor laws and grant requirements.
• Grant Reporting: Track and report personnel metrics, allocations, and demographics required by public and private funders.
• Talent Acquisition: Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, focusing on attracting mission-aligned talent on a non-profit budget.
• Employee Relations: Serve as the sole, trusted point of contact for staff grievances, mediation, and workplace wellness.
• Benefits & Payroll: Oversee benefits open enrollment, broker relations, and coordinate closely with accounting for payroll accuracy.
• Culture & Retention: Develop low-cost, high-impact employee engagement initiatives to prevent burnout in a mission-driven environment.

Key Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with preference for solo practitioner or small non-profit environments.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
• Adaptability: Proven ability to shift seamlessly between big-picture strategic planning and administrative paperwork.
• Certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR certification is desirable.
