Tech - Echo/Ultrasound/Sonographer

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Echocardiographer performs advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures to assist in diagnosing cardiovascular conditions. The role includes working closely with cardiology staff during stress tests and TEE procedures, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.

Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of echocardiographic examinations including 2-D M-Mode, color flow imaging, stress echo, TEE, doppler studies, and advanced techniques like Strain and 3D echocardiography.
• Obtain patient histories, prepare patients, and position them for procedures while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Notify supervising cardiologists of any abnormal or urgent findings immediately.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
• Document procedures thoroughly, acquire and store digital echo studies for interpretation, and ensure accurate billing and record-keeping.
• Maintain a sterile environment, follow aseptic techniques, and uphold infection control standards.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of a certified cardiovascular or ultrasonography program with valid RDMS or RDCS certification.
• At least 2 years of echocardiography experience, preferably in a cardiac catheterization lab or invasive setting.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer or equivalent credential required.
• Maintain American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring, sterile procedures, and clinical documentation.
