Senior Strategic Projects Lead

About the Role We're hiring a Senior Strategic Project Lead to own a portfolio of our most strategic AI lab accounts end-to-end, and to take the first real ownership stake in how the SPL function itself is built. This isn't just a bigger book of clients, it's a mandate to define the playbook, processes, and standards that the next wave of SPLs and SPAs will be trained on as we scale. You’ll operate as both a hands‑on operator on your own accounts and a force multiplier for the team around you. What You’ll Do Own an end‑to‑end portfolio of major AI lab clients, acting as the senior point of contact and trusted partner for their most complex, highest‑stakes data programs Translate ambiguous client objectives into structured, executable project plans, and design the large‑scale data pipelines that deliver against them Build and refine the operational playbook for how we run strategic accounts, including recruiting, vetting, and managing expert contributor teams at scale Manage and mentor a team of SPLs and SPAs, setting the bar for quality, client communication, and execution Identify where existing processes break down as volume and complexity grow, and design the systems and standards that fix that for good Partner closely with leadership on account strategy, prioritization, and where the function needs to evolve next Step directly into escalations and high‑pressure moments with clients, exercising sound judgment with minimal oversight What You’ll Bring 5+ years in a high‑intensity operational role such as consulting, finance, startups, project management, or data operations, with meaningful time spent managing people or a function A track record of owning complex, multi‑stakeholder client relationships and driving them independently Direct experience in human data or AI data operations is a strong plus Demonstrated ability to build or significantly improve an operating process, not just run an existing one Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the executive presence to represent the company to senior stakeholders at frontier AI labs A strong analytical mindset with a bias toward data‑driven decision making Comfort with genuine ambiguity, and the ability to structure a problem from scratch rather than wait for a playbook Mindset & Work Style Entrepreneurial, with a real appetite for building, iterating, and scaling a function rather than just executing within one Comfortable with gritty, hands‑on execution work; this remains an operationally intense role even at the senior level Obsessed with quality, detail, and the client experience Energized by shaping the infrastructure behind frontier AI development, not just participating in it $250k+ base salary, commensurate with experience Performance‑based bonus tied to project outcomes and client satisfaction Equity grant, vested over 4 years Relocation provided if needed Growth Path Senior SPL sits above the individual‑contributor SPL track, managing a portfolio of clients and a team of SPLs and SPAs. From here, natural next steps include Director of Operations, or other senior strategic leadership roles as the company scales. Team & Culture We're a close‑knit, in‑person team in San Francisco. The team works 996, 9am to 9pm, six days a week, with one remote Saturday a month.
