Functional Safety Platform Systems Engineer Job Summary

We are seeking a Functional Safety Platform Systems Engineer with experience in requirements engineering, verification & validation (V&V), and requirements traceability. The ideal candidate will support EV and automotive platform development by managing system requirements, developing test cases, reviewing validation results, and ensuring compliance with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 and ASPICE . Knowledge of EGAS (Entwicklergruppe Benzin-Direkteinspritzung) architecture and automotive functional safety concepts is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities Requirements Engineering

• Review and author system design documents, concept proposals, and architecture diagrams.
• Derive and document functional and non-functional requirements from system designs.
• Create, manage, and maintain requirements in JAMA Connect with complete traceability.
• Ensure alignment between requirements, architecture, and system design documentation.
• Participate in requirements review meetings and drive approval processes.
• Apply automotive requirements writing best practices, ensuring clarity, testability, and verifiability.

Test Case Development & Management

• Develop and maintain test cases derived from approved system requirements.
• Create validation procedures for EV subsystems such as battery management, charging systems, thermal management, powertrain, and functional safety features.
• Maintain requirements-to-test traceability in JAMA.
• Participate in peer reviews and support test case approval workflows.

Verification & Validation (V&V)

• Review and analyze test results for completeness and compliance with requirements.
• Identify discrepancies, failures, and anomalies, and work with V&V teams to resolve issues.
• Support bench, HIL, and vehicle-level testing activities when required.
• Document, track, and manage defects linked to requirements and validation outcomes.
• Ensure full verification coverage and requirement traceability.

Functional Safety & System Engineering

• Support functional safety activities aligned with ISO 26262 .
• Work with EGAS-based architectures and safety monitoring concepts.
• Understand watchdog monitoring, MPU/CPU supervision, e-motor and inverter control systems.
• Support development activities related to battery management systems, charging systems, thermal management, and vehicle controls.

Process & Documentation

• Follow established engineering, quality, and compliance processes.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for requirements, test cases, reviews, and approvals.
• Support design reviews, test readiness reviews, and engineering audits.
• Collaborate closely with Systems, Software, and V&V teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 1-4 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Requirements Engineering, Testing, or V&V.
• Experience with JAMA Connect , DOORS , Polarion , or equivalent ALM tools.
• Strong understanding of requirements traceability and change management.
• Ability to read and interpret architecture diagrams and design specifications.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of automotive systems and EV technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in automotive, EV, or embedded systems development.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety and ASPICE .
• Familiarity with EGAS architecture and automotive safety concepts.
• Hands-on experience with HIL testing, bench testing, or vehicle-level validation.
• Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA or ALM .
• Exposure to battery systems, powertrain, charging infrastructure, thermal management, or ADAS systems.
