Mainframe Network Engineer (Hybrid)

Salary: $63,840 - 121,440 per year Requirements:

• We need at least 5 years of experience in mainframe networking or z/OS communications support.
• We expect familiarity with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and SDSF.
• We need the ability to analyze logs, traces, and dump data related to communications issues.
• We require strong knowledge of TCP/IP on z/OS, VTAM, SNA/Enterprise Extender, TN3270, FTP/SFTP, and TLS.
• Experience with transmission tools such as Connect:Direct is preferred.
• IBM mainframe or networking certifications are a plus.
• We value the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills are important.
• We prefer candidates who can participate in an on-call rotation.
• Experience taking projects through to completion, including complex cross-functional work, is beneficial.
• Candidates must be able to work onsite three days per week in the Phoenix Metro Area, Arizona, and relocation will be considered.

• We design, configure, implement, and support network connectivity for IBM mainframe environments.
• We install, configure, and maintain z/OS Communications Server components.
• We support and manage TCP/IP settings on z/OS systems.
• We maintain and troubleshoot VTAM definitions and related network resources.
• We configure and support Enterprise Extender and SNA connectivity where needed.
• We maintain TN3270 access and session connectivity for users and applications.
• We ensure reliable communication between mainframe systems and distributed servers, external partners, internal enterprise applications, and middleware platforms.
• We diagnose and resolve issues involving IP routing, port communication, session failures, DNS resolution, and firewall restrictions.
• We support file transfer solutions such as FTP, SFTP, and other secure data exchange methods.
• We work with network security teams to enforce secure communication standards.
• We help ensure compliance with enterprise security controls and audit expectations.
• We support SSL/TLS certificate deployment and secure transmission practices.
• We assist with firewall rule validation, port usage reviews, and vulnerability remediation.
• We support network design and recovery processes for disaster recovery environments.
• We validate communication paths for failover systems and backup data centers.
• We participate in disaster recovery testing and business continuity exercises.
