Accounts Payable/ & Risk Support Specialist

AP/Risk Support Specialist Phoenix, AZ | Contract-to-Hire | $25-26 per hour Vaco Arizona has partnered with a well‑established organization in Phoenix that is seeking an Accounts Payable / Risk Specialist to join their team. This is a unique opportunity for someone with AP and Administrative experience who is interested in expanding their skill set beyond traditional accounting functions. This position blends accounts payable responsibilities with risk and insurance operations support. Majority of the role is dedicated to administrative support for the Risk team, with the remaining responsibilities focused on invoice processing and accounts payable activities. Responsibilities Serve as a key support partner to the Risk and Insurance team, assisting with daily administrative and payment‑related activities Process and track various payments, including check runs and other settlement disbursements Process a small volume of vendor invoices and support accounts payable activities as needed Review and maintain claim files, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and properly organized Enter and update information across multiple systems and maintain electronic records Handle incoming mail and assist with document scanning, indexing, and file management Monitor shared inboxes and respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely manner Coordinate with internal teams to resolve payment issues and ensure accurate processing Assist with reporting, audit requests, and month‑end support activities Support check administration activities, including payment research, reissues, and troubleshooting inquiries Provide exceptional customer service while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment Qualifications 3+ years of combined experience in Accounts Payable and Administrative Support, or a related role Proficiency in Excel Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Comfortable working across multiple systems and handling sensitive information Insurance, claims, or risk management experience is a plus but not required Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate: $25–26 per hour Eligible for discretionary bonuses Medical, dental, and vision benefits 401(k) retirement plan Pay Transparency Notice Compensation is determined based on skill set, experience, training, licensure, certification, location, and other business factors.
