For more information about the Grove School of Engineering and the Mechanical Engineering Department, please visit We invite applications from outstanding candidates whose research and teaching interests intersect with mechanical engineering and demonstrate strong potential for impact in one or more of the following areas: Fundamental heat transfer and thermal‑fluids systems Energy, including nuclear and renewable energy Fluid dynamics, including turbulence and multi‑phase flows Materials engineering and design, particularly at the intersection of data‑driven methods, computational mechanics, or smart materials Advanced manufacturing, especially digital manufacturing, additive processes, or cyber‑physical production systems We especially welcome applicants whose work leverages AI to advance innovation in materials, robotics, manufacturing, or other relevant areas and who can collaborate across disciplinary boundaries within the department and beyond. Responsibilities The successful candidates will be expected to actively engage in research, develop an externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop new courses, mentor and advise students at all levels, and contribute to the overall academic wellbeing of the department. Candidates with significant experience and an extensive research and publication record may be considered for the rank of Associate Professor. Qualifications Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work full‑time in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and the ability to attract significant research funding. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $90,838 - $109,025. Salaries above the contractual base are available commensurate with experience and the PSC‑CUNY contract.
