Job Title: Electro-Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
This Electro-Mechanical Assembler role focuses on assembling, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical products and subassemblies. You will work with large industrial components and play a key part in building high-quality, reliable assemblies that meet strict manufacturing and customer requirements. The position requires strong hands-on skills, the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Assemble electro-mechanical components such as valves, sensors, pumps, motors, compressors, printed circuit boards, sheet metal parts, wiring harnesses, and control modules.
Perform mechanical assembly using hand tools, torque tools, fixtures, and other shop equipment to build and align components to dimensional and functional specifications.
Execute electrical wiring and cable routing by following schematics, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions.
Build subassemblies and integrate them into complete systems, ensuring proper fit, function, and reliability.
Perform functional tests, continuity checks, and basic electrical measurements using multimeters and other test equipment.
Identify and correct assembly issues, wiring errors, and mechanical misalignments, escalating complex problems to engineering or manufacturing leads when necessary.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions to ensure accurate builds.
Complete production travelers, inspection forms, and build records accurately and on time.
Follow ESD, safety, and quality procedures consistently throughout all stages of assembly and testing.
Support continuous improvement by providing feedback on build issues, documentation gaps, and process enhancements.
Pull components and hardware from inventory based on BOM requirements and maintain proper material flow.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to overall shop organization and housekeeping.
Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve build issues and improve products and processes.
Perform miscellaneous production tasks such as cleaning tanks, moving materials, and handling large components as needed.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, or related manufacturing roles, preferably with large industrial components.
Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and bills of materials.
Strong hands-on mechanical assembly skills using hand tools, torque tools, and fixtures.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, crimpers, soldering equipment, and measurement tools.
Basic understanding of electrical principles, including voltage, current, polarity, and grounding.
Ability to perform basic electrical measurements and continuity checks using multimeters and related test equipment.
Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures accurately.
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship in both mechanical and electrical work.
Good verbal and written communication skills to document work and collaborate with team members.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely with heavy parts, tools, and equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Technical certificate or associate degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
Hands-on industrial experience with large components rather than small parts or construction-focused work.
Experience working with industrial equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors, and valves.
Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, aerospace, or defense is a plus.
Familiarity with ESD-safe handling practices and quality procedures in an electronics or electro-mechanical environment.
Ability to contribute to or create work instructions to document assembly processes.
Any additional technical certifications related to electro-mechanical assembly, electronics, or manufacturing are a plus.
Why Work Here?
You will join a small, growing company where your work has a direct impact on products and processes. The environment offers close collaboration with experienced technicians and engineers, providing opportunities to learn, expand your skills, and grow with the organization as it scales. Work Environment
You will work in a small, hands-on production environment alongside a technician and a couple of engineers, with plans to add several more team members in the coming years. The role involves working with large industrial components and heavy tools, requiring regular lifting and physical activity. You will use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, fixtures, soldering equipment, multimeters, and other test and measurement devices in a shop setting that follows ESD, safety, and quality procedures. The standard schedule is a first-shift role, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no regular weekend work, providing a predictable and consistent workweek.
