Position Purpose The maintenance supervisor will be responsible for the prompt repair and ongoing daily maintenance of all production equipment. They will coordinate activities with the mechanics to monitor and troubleshoot problems. Responsibilities include completing the installation, repair and upkeep of employer property, including machines, mechanical systems and assets. They will also ensure operator issues are addressed in a timely manner including the operation of safe and functionally sound equipment. Job Responsibilities Direct mechanics on all shifts, on the day’s priorities, and necessary changeovers Provide weekly feedback on new and in‑training mechanics with respect to job training, knowledge, ease of determining proper repair, and answering operators’ issues Train and assist other mechanics on proper changeover techniques, troubleshooting, and repair Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operations, listening for problems Remove/replace defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, power and hand tools Perform preventative maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines by following diagrams, sketches, operations manual, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications Building and grounds maintenance to include lighting, cracks, painting and general repairs Direct, train, and assist all shift mechanics on proper changeover techniques, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and preventive maintenance and inspections Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operations, finding any problems, troubleshooting them and creating training materials Train, advise and counsel associates and provide suggestions to improve performance and productivity Maintain, repair and assign repairs to building and offices as needed Maintain parts inventory, compare and purchase parts, tools and other maintenance items as needed All Maintenance Mechanic Level I & II responsibilities including other relevant job duties as required Maintain departmental SQF records, SQF logs, preventative maintenance logs and PIT files Test and approve production machine operators’ tasks related to operating machines Job Requirements At least five years of maintenance supervisory experience required Must have mechanical aptitude and good troubleshooting skills by use of listening, seeing and watching Knowledge of related computer applications Excellent understanding of facility management procedures Ability to supervise and lead a team of 3 to 5 mechanics Ability to use Microsoft Office applications: Word and Excel Able to use all related maintenance equipment Flexible and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation Compensation UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
