Campus HVAC Lead Technician (On-Site)

Job Description As the Senior HVAC Technician, this position will perform operation, maintenance, repair and installation of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems and related components. The job is located on campus and is not eligible for telework. Duties and Tasks Supervise contracted HVAC work. Maintain HVAC equipment and systems, correcting problems and performing new installations in compliance with applicable codes. Provide economical and safe HVAC service to the campus. Complete work orders with priorities approved by immediate supervisor. Handle emergency work independently on weekends and holidays. Lead other HVAC technicians and trades staff, managing priorities approved by immediate supervisor. Perform maintenance work, troubleshoot, and repair systems. Support emergency operations and coordinate with campus HVAC contractors. Qualifications Knowledge of maintenance, repair, and replacement of HVAC equipment. Experience repairing and maintaining a variety of equipment, including air conditioning, boilers, air handlers, fan coil units, pumps, valves, controllers (DDC & pneumatic), motors, starters, refrigeration, and automated control systems. Ability to follow verbal instructions and work independently. Proficient in use of hand and electric tools, service manuals, and diagnostic equipment. Physical ability to move/lift 50 lbs on a regular basis. Comfortable working in close quarters or cramped environments. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Commercial HVAC training. Experience in energy management and mechanical systems. Experience in operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment and preventive maintenance. Experience with multiple automatic controls/building management computer controls or equivalent training. Additional Considerations Experience with mechanical drawings and building blueprints. Experience operating chillers, heat pumps, air handlers, and geothermal systems.
