Controller

A well-established and growing public accounting and advisory firm, is seeking an experienced Fractional Controller to join its Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAS) practice full-time. This individual will serve as a trusted financial advisor to a portfolio of middle-market clients, providing strategic financial leadership while overseeing day-to-day accounting operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative accounting leader who enjoys partnering directly with business owners and executive teams while working across a variety of industries. Key Responsibilities Serve as the outsourced Controller for multiple middle-market clients. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Review financial statements and ensure compliance with GAAP. Lead month-end and year-end reporting, account reconciliations, and general ledger oversight. Develop budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial analyses to support executive decision-making. Establish and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies. Advise clients on financial performance, KPIs, and best practices. Collaborate with client leadership, external auditors, tax professionals, and internal engagement teams. Mentor and provide guidance to staff accountants and accounting managers supporting client engagements. Support accounting system implementations, process improvements, and special projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with a combination of public accounting and/or private industry leadership. Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, or outsourced accounting experience preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. Experience managing multiple clients or business units simultaneously. Excellent communication, client relationship management, and project management skills. Proficiency with ERP and cloud-based accounting systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or similar). Ideal Candidate Consultative and client-focused with strong executive presence. Comfortable serving as a strategic business partner to CEOs and ownership groups.
