Stress Engineer

Job Title: Stress Engineer Job Description
Lead and assist with the structural analysis of small satellites, payloads, sub-assemblies, and ground support equipment. Develop and execute finite element models (FEM) to simulate and predict the structural behavior of various components using NASA & Mil Standards. Perform linear and nonlinear static, dynamic, and thermal analyses to assess stress margins, fatigue life, and potential failure modes. Provide structural feedback on how to correct any design non-compliances. Provide structural input during test planning phases and process review. Support and collaborate with test engineers and technicians on the development and validation of structural models, simulations, and test plans for ground and flight testing.
Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with the structural analysis of small satellites, payloads, sub-assemblies, and ground support equipment.
• Develop and execute finite element models (FEM) using NASA & Mil Standards to simulate and predict the structural behavior of various components.
• Perform linear and nonlinear static, dynamic, and thermal analyses to assess stress margins, fatigue life, and potential failure modes.
• Provide structural feedback to correct any design non-compliances.
• Provide structural input during test planning phases and process review.
• Support and collaborate with test engineers and technicians on the development and validation of structural models, simulations, and test plans for ground and flight testing.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in stress analysis and structural analysis.
• Experience with Ansys, Femap, and finite element analysis (FEA).
• Ability to perform hand calculations (back of envelope calculations) for FEA.
• Experience in the aerospace industry, preferably with a background in satellite programs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Secret clearance preferred.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loveland, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
