Business Development Manager / Outside Sales – West Coast Locations: Arizona | Utah | Southern California Openings: 3 Compensation: $150,000 Base + Commission Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Steel / Metals / Manufacturing About the Opportunity RL Enterprise Recruiting & Staffing is seeking three experienced Business Development Managers/Outside Sales professionals to expand our client's presence across the Western U.S. These are new-territory, hunter-focused sales opportunities for individuals who know the steel and metals industry, understand flat-roll carbon steel products and services, and have established relationships with customers in the steel, manufacturing, fabrication, construction, and related industries. The ideal candidate will be someone who can hit the ground running —bringing strong industry knowledge, an existing network, and the ability to identify and develop new business. Territory Openings We are hiring one BDM for each of the following territories: Arizona Utah Southern California Candidates should live within or be strategically located to effectively cover their assigned territory. What You'll Do Develop and grow a new geographic territory through aggressive business development and outside sales. Identify, prospect, and secure new customers while expanding relationships with existing accounts. Develop relationships with purchasing, procurement, operations, ownership, and other key decision-makers. Leverage existing industry relationships to generate immediate opportunities and establish a strong customer pipeline. Sell steel products and value-added services to manufacturers, fabricators, OEMs, distributors, contractors, and other industrial customers. Understand customer applications and requirements and recommend appropriate steel products and services. Conduct regular face-to-face customer visits throughout the assigned territory. Develop territory-specific sales strategies and execute against revenue and margin objectives. Monitor market conditions, competitors, pricing, and customer requirements. Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting through quoting, negotiation, closing, and account development. Maintain accurate CRM activity, pipeline, forecasts, and sales reporting. Partner with internal operations, customer service, purchasing, and leadership teams to ensure customer requirements are met. Build long-term relationships that drive repeat business, account expansion, and increased market share. Ideal Background We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in: Flat-roll carbon steel sales Steel service centers or metals distribution Coil and sheet products Steel processing and value-added services Manufacturing and fabrication Construction-related steel products HVAC, roofing, automotive, agriculture, or other steel-consuming industries What We're Looking For Required: Proven success in B2B outside sales/business development Direct experience selling steel, metals, or related industrial products Strong understanding of flat-roll carbon steel products and applications Established relationships within the steel, manufacturing, fabrication, OEM, or industrial marketplace Demonstrated hunter mentality with a history of opening new accounts Ability to independently develop and manage a geographic territory Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills Willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory Strong CRM, forecasting, and pipeline-management skills Preferred: Existing book of business or established customer relationships within the territory Experience selling through a steel service-center or metals-distribution model Knowledge of steel processing/value-added services such as slitting, leveling, shearing, blanking, or cut-to-length Experience calling on purchasing/procurement teams and senior decision-makers Existing relationships with fabricators, OEMs, manufacturers, distributors, or other significant steel-consuming accounts The Ideal Candidate This is not an account-maintenance role . We are looking for a true hunter who enjoys being in the field, opening doors, developing relationships, and winning new business. The strongest candidates will already know the steel industry, understand the products and services they are selling, and have relationships they can leverage to establish a presence quickly within their territory.
