Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to join our estate planning team and provide high-quality legal counsel and drafting services to individuals, families, and fiduciaries. The ideal candidate will lead complex estate planning matters, prepare and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and firm standards. This role balances client-facing work, document drafting, and practice development within a collaborative law firm environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on comprehensive estate planning strategies tailored to their goals, including tax, incapacity planning, and asset protection considerations.
• Draft, review, and finalize estate planning documents such as wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney (POAs), healthcare directives, and related agreements with meticulous attention to detail.
• Manage a caseload of estate planning and estate administration matters from intake through closing, including probate and trust administration support when required.
• Conduct legal research and stay current on statutory and case law developments affecting estates, trusts, probate, and related tax issues; translate legal developments into practical advice for clients.
• Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas (tax, business, elder law) and coordinate with financial advisors, accountants, and other third parties to implement client plans.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff; review work product and provide constructive feedback to maintain high-quality outputs.
• Represent clients in court or dispute resolution proceedings related to probate, trust disputes, or guardianship matters when necessary or coordinate with litigators for contested matters.
• Maintain accurate matter records, billing, and conflict checks; ensure compliance with firm policies, ethical obligations, and confidentiality requirements.
• Contribute to business development by building and maintaining client relationships, participating in community and professional events, and assisting with proposals and presentations.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active admission to the state bar in good standing (required).
• Minimum of 5 years of substantive experience practicing as an Attorney with a focus on Estate Planning (must-have).
• Proven drafting experience preparing trusts, wills, powers of attorney (POA), and other estate planning documents; strong attention to detail and document organization (must-have).
• Hands-on experience with trusts, estates and trusts administration, probate processes, and related fiduciary duties (nice to have).
• Prior experience as a Lawyer in a law firm or private practice with demonstrated client counseling and practice management skills (nice to have).
• Excellent written and oral communication, client service, and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex legal concepts in practical terms.
• Strong legal research, analytical skills, and proficiency with document drafting and practice management software.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff, work independently, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to professional development, ethical practice, and contributing to firm growth through business development activities.
