Job Summary:

Mercer Advisors is looking for an exceptional operator to lead our Proposals program — the team responsible for designing, building, and continuously improving the financial planning proposals that drive new client acquisition. This is a high-visibility role at the intersection of operational strategy, process design, and field enablement.

The right person for this role is a strategic thinker who can look at a complex, high-volume process and see exactly where the inefficiencies are hiding. You'll lead a dedicated team, own the full program roadmap, and serve as the subject matter expert on proposal strategy, capacity, and quality for the entire Client Development organization.

Essential Job Functions:

• Own the Proposals program end-to-end — from strategy and roadmap to day-to-day execution and continuous optimization
• Lead and develop the Client Development financial planning team, setting a high standard for quality, speed, and responsiveness
• Conduct a rigorous assessment of the current proposals process — mapping workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and designing a future state that drives efficiency and improves advisor experience
• Build and manage a capacity model for the proposals function — ensuring the team is appropriately resourced for current volume and can scale with the business
• Define, track, and report on program success metrics — including turnaround time, win rates, revision rates, and team productivity
• Partner with field leadership to understand evolving proposal needs and translate those needs into program improvements
• Collaborate with Enablement to ensure advisors and RVPs are trained and equipped on the latest proposal tools and standards
• Lead the testing and rollout of new proposal tools, templates, and technologies — including AI-assisted drafting and automation
• Manage stakeholder relationships across field leadership, technology, and finance — keeping all parties aligned on program status and priorities
• Operational Oversight: Manage planner capacity, workflow, and deadlines; create strategic plans to absorb future growth and increased demand for prospect proposals.
• Individual Contribution: Serve as a CFP® practitioner, producing prospect financial plans to support client acquisition.
• Performance Management: Motivate and lead the team, ensuring accountability, full capacity utilization, and high-quality output. Develop KPIs, KPI tracking, financial modeling and KPI reporting. Responsibilities involve strategy development, execution and reporting to senior management on sales driven financial outcomes. Prepare accurate financial reports and performance dashboards for management.
• Drive long-term strategy: Design and implement process enhancements to unlock capacity, improve efficiency, and support process improvement. Identify and implement efficiencies in automation and quality delivery of our sales process.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• 8–10 years of experience in operations, process improvement, or program management — ideally within financial services or a high-volume professional services environment
• Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) strongly preferred — you speak the language of process excellence and know how to apply it in a fast-moving organization
• Demonstrated experience with capacity modeling and resource planning — you've designed staffing models and can articulate the tradeoffs clearly to leadership
• Strong operational strategy background — you can think at the level of "how should this function be designed" and then execute the vision at the ground level
• Experience leading a team of direct reports — you coach, develop, and hold your team accountable with care and consistency
• Data-driven decision-maker — you don't rely on intuition alone; you measure what matters and use data to drive change
• Comfortable with ambiguity and comfortable building from scratch — this program is growing, and you'll help define what great looks like
• Excellent communicator — you can translate operational complexity into clear narratives for field leaders, senior executives, and your own team
• Proficiency with project management tools, workflow automation platforms, and CRM/proposal systems
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of eMoney; proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams/Zoom, PowerBI.
• Leadership & Communication: Exceptional orchestration skills; outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
• Problem-Solving & Ownership: Proactive problem solver with high ownership; adept at risk identification and mitigation.
• Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; capable of strategic thinking and execution.
• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Familiarity with wealth management proposals, financial planning processes, or similar client-facing financial documents

• Experience implementing or optimizing AI tools within an operational function

• Track record of reducing cycle time and improving quality simultaneously in a high-volume environment

Work Schedule: Daytime and evening hours as needed.

Working Conditions: Professional office environment. Working inside. Standing and sitting.

Actual base pay within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the applicant's geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills and licenses/certifications. This position is also eligible to earn incentive compensation through one of Mercer Advisors' incentive compensation programs. 

Base Pay Range

$170,000—$200,000 USD
