Overview Identifies customers’ needs through the bank’s retail sales process to provide proactive basic sales solutions via customer outreach for basic needs and refers more complex needs to the appropriate team member or partner. Specializes in enhancing branch customer experience through lobby management, servicing, and sales interactions for retail and business customers. Key Responsibilities Conduct relationship management activities, including customer assessments, profiling for sales opportunities, account opening, and lead-focused outbound calling. Perform the sales process: profile/pre‑call planning, outreach, appointment preparation, in‑person interaction or appointment, and follow‑up. Execute risk management duties such as audit requirements, fraud prevention, Know Your Customer (KYC), and Customer Information Profile (CIP) compliance. Complete basic research on customer profiles to assess potential adding value and transition needs to value‑based discussion on financial goals. Identify financial needs of customers and present appropriate product and service options, working cooperatively with internal business partners. Proactively reach out to clients via e‑mail or phone to follow up and educate on value‑added products/services to address their needs. Onboard new customers through customer outreach regardless of the channel used for account opening. Establish trust with existing clients through proactive outreach on a regular basis. Schedule preset appointments for the following week and conduct each appointment as scheduled. Prepare adequately for scheduled appointments, including a pre‑call plan for sales interactions. Perform customer servicing interactions while adhering to compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with company or regulatory standards and policies. Support an environment that promotes belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand, maintaining internal control standards and timely implementation of audit points and external regulatory issues. Complete other related duties as assigned and meet registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act. Scope of Responsibilities Serve as the focal point in the branch for sales, service, and referral opportunities to support branch goals and activities. Act as a key driver of customer flow in the branch, servicing existing customers and growing the business by identifying sales opportunities. Stay current on operational, product, and system changes/enhancements and demonstrate good risk‑management decisions to assist the branch in preventing losses and reducing fraudulent activity. Education and Experience Required High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of 2 years proven retail sales, call center, customer service, and/or telesales experience, orHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of 1 year proven proactive sales experience. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Exceptional customer service ability. Well‑organized individual with time‑management and prioritization skills. Demonstrated financial services product knowledge. Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with internal and external customers. Proficient with internet user‑level technology. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree. Notary public license. Bilingual language ability based on branch needs. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to use hands and fingers for prolonged tasks. Ability to lift light to moderate objects weighing 5lbs to 30lbs. Ability to read fine print. Ability to interact with customers in an open face‑to‑face work environment. Ability to use fax, telephone system, copier, and other communication tools. Compensation Hourly rate: $23.84 – $39.74 USD. Compensation is based on the successful candidate’s specific combination of knowledge, skills, and experience.
