Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Tampa, FL.Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core general ledger and transactional accounting functions. This role is heavily focused on reconciliations, journal entries, and maintaining data integrity in a high-volume environment. The ideal candidate is strong in Excel, comfortable working in imperfect systems, and proactive in identifying and escalating issues.Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general ledger reconciliations (GL recs), including account and subledger tie-outs
• Prepare and post journal entries, including month-end GL entries (M/E close)
• Execute account reconciliations, including clean-up work and resolving discrepancies
• Support transactional accounting processes across multiple areas
• Work extensively in Excel and SharePoint-based reporting tools due to system limitations
• Identify, investigate, and bubble up errors or inconsistencies in financial data
• Assist with subledger reconciliation and integration to the GL
• Contribute to ongoing process improvement and data accuracy initiatives

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience (GL, reconciliations, or transactional accounting)
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data manipulation required)
• Experience with journal entries and month-end close processes
• Proven ability to manage high-volume reconciliation work and clean-up projects
• Comfortable working in less structured systems environments (heavy manual processes)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and escalate issues

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
