Staff Accountant | Tampa, FL Oliver James is partnering with a rapidly growing insurance business in Tampa that is looking to add a Staff Accountant to its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional with between 6 months and 3 years of experience who wants to accelerate their career in a high‑growth, entrepreneurial environment. The business has ambitious expansion plans, is entering new markets, and offers direct exposure to senior leadership alongside genuine progression opportunities. Reporting directly to an accomplished Controller with a Big 4 background, you will gain hands‑on experience across multiple areas of accounting and finance, working closely with teams across underwriting, claims, operations and technology. Responsibilities Financial reporting and month‑end accounting activities Journal entries, account reconciliations and bank reconciliations Agent commission calculations and payments Cash management and cash application activities Ownership of policy administration and payment processing workflows Corporate credit card and expense management Supporting process improvement and automation initiatives Cross‑functional project work with exposure to executive leadership Qualifications Early in their accounting career with strong ambition and a desire to learn Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment Proactive, energetic and willing to take ownership of responsibilities Interested in building a long‑term career with clear progression opportunities Excited by technology, automation and process improvement The company is embracing AI and automation throughout the finance function, creating an environment where forward‑thinking professionals can develop modern accounting and finance skillsets.
