Bethlehem Area School District is seeking dependable and safety-focused Bus Monitors to assist with the safe transportation of students to and from school. There are 8 vacancies available. This part-time position is approximately 29 hours per week and includes paid required training prior to beginning the assignment. Bus Monitors work alongside bus drivers to help maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly environment for all students during transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists the bus driver in safely transporting students to and from school
• Monitors student conduct on the bus or van to maintain a safe and appropriate environment
• Based on a student's individual needs, may assist students with boarding and exiting the bus and securing safety equipment
• Communicates with the bus driver and appropriate staff regarding student needs or concerns
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to work effectively with students and maintain a safe and positive transportation environment
• Dependable, patient, and able to follow safety procedures
• Ability to complete required paid training prior to beginning employment

Pre-Employment Requirements:

The following pre-employment requirements must be successfully completed before employment may begin:

• Must undergo and receive a satisfactory result on a pre-employment drug screening
• Must successfully complete and submit all required background clearances in accordance with Pennsylvania School Code employment requirements. Instructions for completing these clearances can be found at:
  
  
• Must complete the Pennsylvania School Personnel Health Record following a conditional job offer and prior to the first day of employment
• Must successfully complete all required Act 168 employment history review requirements prior to beginning employment

Rate: $21.22 per hour
