ABOUT THE ROLE

We are a consulting firm that embeds AI talent directly into client organizations to rebuild how work gets done .

Forward Deployed Engineers are production software engineers : full-stack engineers with infrastructure and deployment expertise. Embedded inside a client's AI Engineering team, you will design, build, test, deploy, and operate production-grade applications and the scalable infrastructure that supports the client's internal and external AI products - connecting their systems and software development lifecycle to their AI and agentic tooling.

You should be AI-native and experienced in the software development life cycle (“SDLC”). You read, write, and debug real code; when something breaks in production, you are the person who can open it up and fix it. 

You join as a full-time employee of Automated Industries. Client engagements are three months long, with the opportunity to convert to a full-time role with the client if it's a mutual fit.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Embed full-time inside the client's AI Engineering team as a production engineer
• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate production-grade applications and the scalable infrastructure behind the client's internal and external AI products
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and own releases through the full software development lifecycle
• Apply reliability engineering practice: instrumentation, monitoring, and debugging production systems - find what's broken and fix it in code
• Architect and integrate AI systems into existing applications: context management, model deployment, and agentic tooling wired into real infrastructure
• Extend and support the client's existing AI platform work - build on what exists rather than greenfielding
• Use Claude Code and AI-assisted development daily, while understanding every line you ship

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 3-5 years of full-stack engineering experience with production systems you can point to
• Python; AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform. Amazon Bedrock experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and the software development lifecycle
• Site reliability engineering (“SRE”) fundamentals: reliability, observability, and the instinct to debug a broken system down to the code
• Understanding of how AI systems work in production: context, model deployment, agent architectures
• Clear communicator: you can explain technical decisions to engineers and non-engineers alike

BONUS POINTS

• Amazon Bedrock, agentic frameworks, or LLM application work you have shipped to production
• Observability and infrastructure tooling (Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring stacks)
• Prior consulting, client-embedded, or forward-deployed experience

COMPENSATION & DETAILS

• $110,000 - $140,000 annualized salary, commensurate with experience
• Role is for an initial 3-month engagement at dedicated client. There is an opportunity to convert to full-time employment with the client if it's a mutual fit, or to continue with us on the next engagement
• Full-time; on-site at the client in New York City Tuesday through Thursday
