Chief Accountant/Senior Accountant

Virtus is searching on behalf of our client, $25M equipment manufacturer located in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Position Summary: The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations. Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting. Performs all foreign currency translations for branch office in The Netherlands. Develops and implements accounting policies to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Prepares financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to support decision-making. Works closely with foreign ownership (Japan) on financial reporting. Partners with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits and tax filings. Monitors liquidity, financial performance metrics, and identifying risks and opportunities. Mentors and coaches accounting staff while ensuring continuous improvement in financial management. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Ability: Read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, agencies or members of the business community. Write speeches and articles for publication. Mathematical Ability: Apply advanced concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Apply operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, test reliability/validity, variance analysis, correlation technique, sampling theory and factor analysis. Reasoning Ability: Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office. ERP software Certificates and Licenses: BA Accounting Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
