Onto Innovation strives to optimize customers’ critical path of progress by making them smarter, faster and more efficient.Job Summary & ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting key areas of the general ledger, month-end and quarter-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal control compliance. This role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data while partnering cross-functionally with finance, operations, and business teams to support timely reporting and process improvements.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end and quarter-end close.Analyze general ledger activity and investigate variances, unusual transactions, and reconciling items.Support the preparation of financial statements, management reporting packages, and other internal reporting deliverables.Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.Assist with fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and subledger reconciliations.Record, reconcile, and resolve intercompany transactions across multiple entities, as applicable.Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules, documentation, and explanations.Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and SOX requirements, where applicable.Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, close timelines, documentation, and reporting accuracy.Partner with FP&A, operations, tax, treasury, and other teams to support business needs and accounting conclusions.Assist with special projects, system implementations, process improvement initiatives, and ad hoc analysis.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public accounting, corporate accounting, or a combination of both.Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or similar platforms.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.Experience with account reconciliations, month-end close, and audit support.CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred, but not required.Required Skills and CompetenciesStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to streamline processes.Preferred ExperienceExperience in a publicly traded company or SOX-controlled environment.Exposure to multi-entity or global accounting processes.Experience with fixed assets, intercompany accounting, accruals, prepaids, or other corporate accounting areas.Experience using account reconciliation tools or close management systems.Why Join Onto Innovation?At Onto Innovation, we believe your work should matter—and so should your well-being.
