As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.Role Responsibilities: Identify and troubleshoot a variety of difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision Define, coordinate, perform and document engineering test reports  Develop, design, or modify mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, or drawings/specifications of difficult scope Perform engineering analysis of difficult scope with limited supervision Technically lead or execute projects; develop key suppliers and generate mechanical product specifications Design, develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes; enable the handling, assembly and/or disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies; establish standards across all operational processes Specify and review engineering documentation Implement concepts for a variety of complex product issues and mechanical solutions Clearly communicate complex or sensitive information; build consensusMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree4-7 years of experienceDemonstrated experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis and/or • Design for Excellence principlePreferred Qualifications: Knowledge of the Applied Materials product life cycle, including prototyping, packaging, material selection and manufacturing methods  Team OverviewCandidate will join a dynamic hardware engineering Team, which pushes the boundary on developing impactful and differentiated engineering products for addressing customers’ high value problems in performance improvement, lifetime improvement, cost of ownership of products, material selection and failure analysis.Key ResponsibilitiesWork on understanding mechanical designs of various hardware; create new designs for performance improvement; troubleshoot designs to address performance failures.Work on test fixtures to conduct experiments to validate and extend product performance.Work with Suppliers for developing product solutions.Understand product specifications, propose improvements and generate documentation with updated specifications.Make Presentations of hardware capabilities, new designs and improvements in Design Review forum to a broad audienceManage personal deliverables of projects and maintain timelines, under general guidanceEffectively communicate project related information to stakeholdersTechnical Skills RequiredFundamental understanding of Mechanical Engineering conceptsFundamental understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanicsBasic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Basic knowledge of materials, their properties and their application in mechanical designBasic understanding of CFD & FEA simulations is preferableAdditional InformationTime Type:Full timeEmployee Type:Assignee / RegularTravel:Yes, 10% of the TimeRelocation Eligible:YesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
