Job Description:

The RN in the Telemetry unit is responsible for monitoring and caring for patients with medical and secondary psychiatric diagnoses. The unit specializes in patients with mental illness, requiring additional safety monitoring.

Responsibilities:

• Complete SIMs Lab training for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Provide care for confused patients, dementia, and those with low cognitive ability.
• Participate in floor-specific orientation for two shifts and adhere to established safety protocols.
• Float as needed to ED psych holds and possibly to MedSurg floors.

Requirements:

• Must have Level 1 Trauma experience.
• Pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance within two attempts.
• Hold certifications in BLS and ACLS.
• Prefer psychiatric experience, but not required.
• Ability to work every 3rd weekend and in rotation for holidays.
