Schedule

12-hour shifts from 6:45 am - 7:15 pm or 6:45 pm - 7:15 am, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Job Description

The Pulmonary & Observation Unit consists of 32 beds, with a nurse/patient ratio of 1:6. RNs are responsible for providing quality care to patients with respiratory diagnoses and various medical conditions in an adult and geriatric population. The role requires collaboration with RTs to manage CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow O2 for trach patients. The RN will also administer medications, including titratable and set rate drips.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients with respiratory diagnoses and medical conditions.
• Titrate IV drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Lasix, and Amiodarone.
• Conduct trach care and manage high-flow oxygen therapies.
• Collaboration with monitoring techs and charge nurses for patient management.
• Document and chart patient information accurately using EPIC.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Nurse (RN) with previous travel experience.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS.
• Experience in Med-Surg, Telemetry, Critical Drips, and Trach Care.
• Preferred experience with Peritoneal Dialysis and cardiac patients.
• Floating to other units such as Med-Surg or ED may be required.

Unit Description
- Experience: Med-Surg/Telemetry/Critical Drips/Trach Care required, Peritoneal Dialysis
preferred. MS/Tele nurses with good cardiac background.

- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Cardizem (Up to 15mg/hr only), Lasix,
Dopamine (low dose renal perfusion only), Amiodarone
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit?: Monitor Techs 24/7, Charge RNs read strips; however,
RNs are to review strips each shift as well.
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor?: Charge nurse with modified patient assignment, usually 2
patients. If staffing is good, would be free charge. Traveler may be asked to fill in the Charge
Nurse role. If willing/interested, would be cross trained. /House Supervisor 24-7
