Medical Assistant-Certified

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) is responsible for supporting elderly patients (age 62 and up) in a primary care outpatient clinic setting. This role involves performing standard medical assistant duties to the top of their scope, facilitating patient care, and coordinating with clinicians and external providers. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong administrative experience, and a commitment to punctuality and reliability. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity with a Monday through Friday schedule and no weekend or on-call requirements. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care and clinical support to clinicians within the outpatient primary care clinic.
• Perform standard medical assistant tasks within the scope of MA-C certification.
• Coordinate patient care with outside facilities and physicians through effective communication.
• Support value-based care initiatives aimed at minimizing hospital admissions and emergency department utilization for complex elderly patients.
• Manage administrative duties including scheduling, documentation, and patient record maintenance.
• Assist with patient intake, vital signs collection, and preparation for clinician visits.
• Utilize electronic health record systems, preferably EPIC, to document patient care and related activities.
• Ensure timely and accurate communication within the interdisciplinary team to support patient outcomes.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Valid Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) license (MA-R, MA-P, or MA-HT not accepted).
• Ability to meet all scheduling requirements with no restrictions (childcare, transportation, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong administrative experience in a clinical setting.
• Willingness and ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Ability to reliably report to work on time and as scheduled.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Previous experience working with elderly patient populations.
• Experience in value-based care or chronic disease management programs.

Special Considerations:

• Position is open only to candidates residing within 50 miles of the clinic location (locals only).
• Temp-to-perm employment expectation; candidate must be willing to join permanently if offered.
• No weekend shifts or on-call duties required.
• Must complete interview and resolve all scheduling limitations prior to start.
• Work setting is an outpatient primary care clinic focused on elderly patients.

Scheduling:

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break.
• Five 8-hour shifts per week, no weekends or holidays.
• Shift schedule is fixed and does not require floating between units.
